Sweet Sweetwater Creek State Park - YOBOY

Join us on this wonderful hike, beautiful forests, outstanding creek views and moderate elevation changes.

This park has something for everyone!

Sweetwater is a gorgeous park and even just a short walk into the woods will make you forget you’re right outside of a major city. 

We will hike 6.3 miles, estimated 800 ft elevation gain, at a pace of 2.7 mph.

The route will follow a combination of the Yellow, Orange, and Blue trails.

We will start at the visitor center parking lot. The center itself is considered one of the most environmentally conscious buildings in the country and is worth a stop in as well.

Inside, you’ll find a small gift shop and a museum of local history, plant and wildlife displays, and trail maps.

The park charges a $5 parking fee, you can purchase the parkpass at the visitor center or online at https://gastateparks.reserveamerica.com/posProductDetails.do?id=554806&contractCode=GA

Georgians with public library cards can check out a ParkPass—much like checking out a book.

Restrooms and a drinking fountain are also available at the visitor center.

Although the address is Mount Vernon Rd, please make sure you turn onto Factory Shoals rd from Mt Vernon Rd, that's the only way to get to the visitor center.

Just after crossing over the lake, look for a sign that says hiking/nature trails, and take a left there (there is a small entry gate on Factory Shoals Rd).  Enter at the Factory Shoals gate and continue straight to the end of the road to the parking area.
