Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

Join me for three day hikes in the Clayton, Georgia, area. I've done one of the three hikes before, but the other two are new to me, so I've marked the event as exploratory. All three are mostly on the Bartram trail, which is a much less populated trail than the AT. The hikes vary from difficult to very difficult, and will be done at a fast pace (especially on the second hike).

This event is configured to add everyone who registers to the waitlist. The trip leader will move people to the event based on his assessment of their past AOC activity (including social compatibility), other experience, and roommate requirements. No one will be added who does not have recent experience on D5+ events. The maximum size will increased if one or two couples register.

The three hikes will all be D5s, although the second one will be flirting with D6, and might achieve it. The other two hikes will have beautiful streams and waterfalls and mountain views that will reward you for the hard work.

We will arrive in Clayton Wednesday evening June the 18th, and hike Thursday the 19th through Sunday the 22nd of June.

The three hikes:

1) Thursday, June 19th, (exploratory) hike from Warwoman Dell to Pinnacle Knob and Rock Mountain. The approximate distance is 11.7 miles with 3,186' of climbing, a D5. The route can be seen here:

2) Friday, June 20th, (exploratory) hike from Warwoman Dell East on the Bartram trail for 5 hours at a fast pace, aiming for 15 miles (3 mph). That would amount to about 3,617' of climbing. So it may be a D5. But we could decide to go all the way to Jack's Creek Falls, which would be 20 miles and would make it a D6. The route can be viewed here:

3) Bartram Trail at Hale Ridge Road to Rabun Bald (and slightly beyond). This hike will be 11 miles and 2,648' of climbing, a D5. The route can be viewed here:

Because we will be doing three hikes of D5 three days in a row, the overall trip difficulty is rated D6.

We will stay in a rental house in Clayton that is close to the three hikes. The cost includes the AOC administrative fee and the house rental. It does not include meals, which may include restaurants or meals cooked at the house, as decided by the group.

     - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

     - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant.

     - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.
