Itinerary:

Come enjoy winter views as we ascend one of the most scenic peaks on the Appalachian Trail. We'll climb almost 2,000 feet on a well constructed section of the AT for about 4.5 miles. The final stretch to the top of Siler Bald is steep, but well worth the climb. At the top, we'll reach an elevation of just over 5,000 feet. To the south, on a clear day, we'll see Standing Indian and many other peaks in North Carolina and North Georgia. I expect us to each lunch on the bald between 12:30 and 1:00. On our return trip, we'll hike a connecting trail to the Siler Bald Shelter and continue to loop back to the AT.
