Itinerary:

Greetings AOC hikers!

We are going to hike at historic Hyde Farm, Mulberry Creek and along the Chattahoochee River to Morgan Falls Dam where we'll visit a beach! We will also hike along Johnson Ferry Trail.

This hike has a nice mix of landscapes including a river, large dam, creeks, a small beach, historic farm, donkeys, an abandoned car in the middle of a trail, and some stone stepping creek crossings that may get your toes wet if the water is high. (I doubt it will be high this time of year, but pack an extra pair of shoes to wear home just in case! You may also want hiking poles to navigate the streams.)

We will spend about five minutes exploring the historic farm toward the beginning of the hike. It is a renovated/updated farm established in the 1830's. The Powers family settled on this land in the 1830's, and the homestead has been preserved as a glimpse into the area's former agricultural heritage, according to local park rangers.

We will also spend about five minutes hanging out at the beach and taking in the sites of the Morgan Falls Dam and the Chattahoochee River.

The hike has a total elevation gain of about 1,000 feet and most of the hike will be on dirt. We will hike at a moderate pace.

There are bathrooms near the parking area. (Parking is free!)

After the hike, there is an option to eat lunch together at a nearby restaurant if the group is open to it.
