Itinerary:

 

DISCLAIMER: This is a brisk, moderately strenuous hike with 1000+ foot elevation gain and a substantial amount of rock scrambling. So, if you have mobility issues, are recovering from injury, or prefer a slower pace, please sit this one out!

 

Jump start the upcoming week on this heart-pumping, 6.2 mile hike! The plan is to meet/begin at the Whistle Stop area, summit the mountain at our own pace, regroup near the Geo-markers, descend past the gum poles, pick up the Cherokee Trail via the Southwest face, then around the lake and back up the way we came before returning to the parking lot.

Hiking boots/shoes w/ good traction

Notes:

  • Please, no unregistered guests or +Ones!

  • Late cancellations, particularly within 36 hours of the event, make it difficult for those on the waitlist to attend. Please be courteous to your fellow AOC members and cancel with as much notice as possible.

  • I usually hike RAIN-or-SHINE! However, in case of severe weather or other unforeseen emergencies that warrant a cancellation, I will text/email you at least TWO HOURS before the start of the event.


* We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.

Cost Includes:

There is no cost for this event, however, entry to Stone Mountain Park is $20 per vehicle, or $40 for an annual pass. If you want to avoid the fee, you can park for free on Main Street in Stone Mountain Village and walk or ride your bike for free into the park.

  2. In order to earn credit for this event, participants must complete the entire hike/event with the group, or within the stated time frame.
