Itinerary:

Located on the Emory Campus, Lullwater Park is a favorite place for trail runners, dogwalkers, and fishermen. Lullwater is home to numerous families of turtles, ducks and geese, as well as a blue heron and at least one owl.

We will gather in the parking lot of "The Clifton School Child Care Center" at 6:45 p.m. After brief introductions, we will head off to Lullwater Park.

This will be an easy 3 mile hike around Candler Lake and across the suspension bridge, making a loop behind the VA center, and then down along South Fork Peachtree Creek toward Hahn Woods. We will stop for photos at the old mill ruins and waterfall.

At the far end of our hike we will cross Houston Mill Road down to the Hahn Woods nature preserve. We will head back to the parking lot around dusk.

How to Get There:

Event Directions:

From the "SPAGHETTI JUNCTION" I-85 / I-285 INTERCHANGE in NE Metro Atlanta:

1) Take I-85 South toward Atlanta about 4 miles and exit at Exit #91 "Clairmont Road."

2) Turn Left onto Clairmont Road (US-23 southeastward toward Decatur) and go about 3.2 miles to the traffic light at Starvine Way (less than a quarter mile past the two traffic lights in front of the huge VA Hospital.)

3) Turn Right onto Starvine Way and go 0.4 mile (through Emory's "Clairmont Campus" and a couple of stop signs) to the Clifton School Child Care Center on your Right. We'll meet in the farthest end of the school's front parking lot next to the steel gate on Starvine Way.

You may park in the Starvine Parking DECK after 4:00 p.m. or the Clifton School parking lot after 6:00 p.m. Do not use this lot before 6:00 p.m.!!
