Moderate 6 miles

From the parking lot we will walk on a couple of different trails to the banks of the Chattahoochee. From there we will take another trail that leads outside the park at Parkwood Cir., some 50 yds. from Powers Ferry Rd. We will have lunch at a nearby establishment (T. G. I. Fridays and La Madeleine are right there), an return to Sope Creek. The trip back will be on a slightly different route.

On the way from Parkwood to Sope we will have to ford a creek. This will involve stepping on rocks and shallow water. I have done it many times without mishap, but if you slip you may get wet.

Estimated walking time: from Sope to Parkwood: 80 minutes. From Parkwood to Sope: 90 minutes.

Chattahoochee National Recreation Area Sope Creek Parking, 10am Coming from downtown Atlanta drive north on I 75 until Exit 260 (right after I 285). Take a right to East Delk Road. After a little over a mile, Delk Rd. reaches Terrell Mill. Continue straight on Terrell Mill for about one mile, until you reach Paper Mill Rd. Turn right on Paper Mill Rd. and proceed another mile or so. The parking will be on your right.
