Itinerary:

We will walk some distance on the Cooper Branch and Cooper Furnace trails and then take a back trail to the summit of Pine Mountain. After a brief stop to admire the view we will return to our cars via the East Loop of Cartersville's Pine Mountain Trail, and a connector trail that leads back to the Allatoona Lake area, for a total walking distance of about 5 miles and an ascent of about 800 ft.

This route passes through a mixed pine and hardwood forest. It features a vast variety of trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Wildlife is abundant here and we will walk past a pond inhabited by beaver and muskrat.

Water, good walking shoes, and flashlight.

From Atlanta go to I-75 Exit 290, take a right onto GA 20 East then an immediate right onto Spur 20. Continue about 3.5 miles. Trailhead will be on your right. If you reach the end of the road you went about 1 mile too far.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $20.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
