Itinerary:

This another in the Summit Sunset Series where we will enjoy sunsets from some of the finest scenic viewpoints...all on or near mountain peaks.  If you've never had this experience, you don't know what you're missing, so time to find out...

Standing at 1562', Pine Mountain one of the taller mtns in the greater metro ATL area.  It is a superb sunset spot for about half the year.  The sun moves too far to the north eventually and is obscured by the trees, but hopefully we will get a visible sunset (at 7:43 PM).  Also the forecast is for Mostly Cloudy skies tomorrow, so could be get tripped up by that as well, but we will roll the dice and give it a shot.

It is about 2.3 mile round trip hike..with about 650' of total ascent...very similar to Kennesaw Mtn or Stone Mountain as far as distance and elevation gain.

The trail is pretty easy to follow and if you want to hike ahead of the trip leader at a faster pace, that's fine.  For those who want to stick with me, I'll be going at a fairly leisurely to moderate pace...taking my time getting up there.

It's only about a mile back down, so we should be out of there before it gets dark.  So flashlight or headlamp is recommended, but not really required.

    I-75 Exit 288, go East (right) less than a mile until the road ends, then right at Komatsu sign. Parking area for the West Loop Trailhead is on the left before entering Komatsu.
