Itinerary:

This loop follows a number of trails on Powers Island, the banks of the Chattahoochee, and the bluffs overlooking it. The walking distance is about 3 miles with several good hills to get the heartrate elevated.  We'll take it at a relatively moderate pace.  It would be a difficult beginner's hike, but a great one if you've hiked a bit and would like a little more challenge.


Only 3 dogs will be allowed on this hike, so if you see 3 dogs registered, please do not add yours.  As with all CNRA areas, dogs are to be kept on leash at all times.  Owners are expected to keep the trails free of doggie-doo.  :-)

From eastbound Interstate 285

  • Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
  • Go to second traffic light and turn left onto New Northside Drive
  • Use the through lane to pick up Interstate North Parkway.
  • Entrance will be 0.6 miles on the right.

From Atlanta, take I-75 north to I-285 east. Exit at the first exit (Exit 22) for Northside Powers Ferry. Take a left on Northside to cross back over I-285. Then take another left at Interstate North Parkway heading southwest back the way you came on I-285. Just before you cross the bridge over the Chattahoochee at the bottom of the hill, enter Powers Island on the right.

Be sure to bring $3 cash for parking if you don't have an annual CNRA pass.
