Vogel State Park is my favorite park especially in the fall. First we will check out the Byron Herbert Reece Nature Trail 0.8 miles. Then we'll hike the Bear Hair Gap Trail, a 4.1 miles partial loop up and over the lower ridges of Blood Mountain, with another 1/2 mile side trail to the overlook of Trahlyta Lake. The views should be nice since the leaves will have begun to fall off the trees. After that, if the group would like, we can hike the easy 1.0 mile trail around the lake. Total miles around 6 to 7.

The pace will be moderate, stopping to take pictures and enjoy the views.

Meet at the carpool, head up to Vogel; park beside the lake which is across the street from the office. Get parking passes for each vehicle as needed. The start of the trail isn't too far from the park visitor's office.

Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $56.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

There is a $5.00 State Park fee per vehicle that can be bought at the park visitor's office.

Please arrive a few minutes early. We will leave the carpool at 9:00 am so if you're running late you will need to meet us at Vogel.
