This is an excellent beginner/novice hike. Several of you newcomers have asked for a hike that isn't strenuous or fast. Well, this is it! Please note: If you have more than 10 hikes with the AOC, you may be moved to the waiting list to give preference to the folks who have less experience. If the event doesn't fill up, you will be added in the order in which you registered.

This is a completely paved asphalt trail that hugs the area close to the Chattahoochee River along Riverside Rd. in Roswell, GA. It is flat, with no roots, rocks, or ascents. Those of you waiting for an introductory AOC hike need look no more: this is it!

Rather than try to get a certain distance in, we'll walk for 45 minutes along the path and then retrace or steps back. We'll cover at least 4 miles, but the pace will be very moderate. It will be a walk that will allow you to talk with your companions without getting out of breath.

We'll meet in the parking lot close to the bathrooms. Please arrive early enough to use the facilities and check in by starting time. We will begin the hike promptly at 10 AM, so if you arrive late, we will be gone. Please have my phone number handy so that you can call if you're running late. (404-788-4089) I'll be able to tell you which direction we went.

We'll allow up to three people with dogs on this hike. Please cooperate with the posted park rules. AOC is very visible and it is important we portray a good image. Dogs must be on leash at all times, no exceptions.

Required Items to Bring:

Be sure to have shoes with good support that are comfortable for you.
Water is always good to have on hand, even on cool days.
