Itinerary:

Yellow River Park is a highly vegetated area located off Juhan Road in the city of Stone Mountain, GA - just southeast of the granite dome of Stone Mountain. The 566-acre park includes a 12-mile (19 km) trail (we'll be doing only 4 to 5) that can be used for walking, hiking, and horse riding. The park has pavilions, grills, and a large playground, as well as a wooden overlook that provides a view of the Yellow River.

This is a great hike for getting outdoors without the commitment of an entire day of driving to a far destination and back. The trails are well maintained, there are nice restroom facilities, and the park itself is beautiful.

This hike is different from the D1 - No Excuses Hikes. We'll be moving through some hilly areas across the street from the river - - an area that offers a much more varied terrain from the flat river paths. Nothing too steep - - but not a hike for beginners! We'll be moving at a brisk pace, and we'll be covering about 6 miles.

Be advised that leash laws are strictly enforced if you bring your dog. We'll allow three folks with dogs on the hike, so if you see three people ahead of you bringing dogs, please do not add yours.

Take exit 39B to merge onto US-78 E/Stone Mountain Hwy toward Snellville/Athens

In 9.3 miles, Turn right onto E Park Pl Blvd

Continue straight onto Rockbridge Rd

Turn right onto Juhan Rd SW

Destination will be on the left
