Itinerary:

We'll take this hike at a pretty fast pace, therefore, it wouldn't be a good hike for beginners or for folks wanting a leisurely stroll along the trails.  If you bring a dog, be sure it is wiling to keep moving, as we will keep stops to a minimum.

We'll meet at the Visitor's Center parking lot, which is about 3/4 mile past the front entrance to Island Ford.  Keep driving until you dead end at the big Visitor's Center building.  It's farther than you think it will be.

We'll start the hike promptly at 5 pm.  The Visitor's Center closes at 5, so plan to use a restroom on the way to the hike, or just duck behind a big tree.  There are plenty of them out there.  Arrive at least 5 minutes early to meet everyone before we start out and to purchase a $3 parking ticket if you don't own an annual pass.

We'll limit the number of dogs to three, so if you see three dogs already registered, please don't add yours.  Dogs must be able to interact well with people and other dogs and must be kept on a leash at all times.  Dogs running loose can stir up yellow jackets in this area - - it has happened! They can also trip people on the narrow trails. Be considerate of others and abide by the CNRA leash law!

Don't forget to bring $3 cash for a parking ticket;  change is not available.

Trails can be muddy if there has been recent rain.  Be sure to have shoes with good tread that you don't mind getting dirty.  Waterproof shoes help, too!
