Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

The stunning Emery Creek Trail sits on the edge of the Cohutta Wilderness area within the WMA. We will take the seldom used Emery Creek Trail and see up to 5 different waterfalls (depending on water levels) along this trail.

We will start the hike at the parking lot as it gradually climbs up and along Emery Creek to the falls at the end, once we have rested and had lunch we will climb up and along a ridgeline off trail for approximately 1 mile to some hidden ruins. After spending some time at the ruins we will back track at least 1 mile along the ridge and follow the trail back to the trailhead.

This hike has MANY river crossings, please make sure you are comfortable with this and bring a change of socks in case your shoes/boots get wet. River shoes for the crossings are highly recommended.

As a bonus at the end of the hike we will drive a couple of miles and hike down a short steep hill to see Holly Creek Falls.

We plan to eat dinner on the way back if the group desires.

Water/sports drink - at least 2.5 litres (or if you carry a filter you can filter from the creek)

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
