How about a mid-week hike over a beautiful trail from Unicoi Park to Anna Ruby Falls in Helen, Ga? The Smith Creek Trail connects these two places on a scenic 4.5 mile hike (in each direction). In order to avoid a shuttle, we'll make the hike back and forth for a total of 9 miles.

Anna Ruby Falls is a spectacular waterfall in the north Georgia mountains. After the 4.5 mile hike to the falls, we'll stop at the deck to eat lunch before backtracking to Unicoi Park. We'll be hiking at a moderate pace making the back and forth trek in about 5 hours. Including the drive to and from the carpool, we'll be out for the day 8 - 9 hours.

From Mansell Park and Ride:

Get on GA-400 N/US-19 N --0.8 mi / 2 min

Merge onto GA-400 N/US-19 N --37.0 mi / 35 min

Continue on GA-115 to White County --19.2 mi

Turn right onto GA-75Alt S -- 8.1 mi

Turn right onto GA-75 S -- 0.3 mi

Take the 2nd left onto GA-356 E --1.3 mi

Turn right onto Unicoi Bottoms Rd -- 1.0 mi

You will cross Unicoi Lake Dam. First you need to stop at the Unicoi Lodge and Conference Center to buy your $5.00 parking pass (unless you have a Georgia State Park parking pass) .Then you drive back towards the dam and turn right into Unicoi Campground Road and drive about 0.6 miles to where we will park.

Our group will park near the trailhead to Smith Creek Trail. Coordinates for the parking area are:

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

There is a $5.00 parking fee per car at Unicoi Park. If you have an annual pass, please bring it!
