Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue. This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Come join Joyce and me as we explore many of the Garland Mountain Horse and Hike Trails. Located in Cherokee County, the park is immaculately maintained by the Cherokee County Saddle Club and open to horsemen and hikers only. The various trails are named after horse coat color or pattern (Palomino, Sorrel, Dun, Pinto, Chestnut and Roan) and are some of the best blazed trails we've ever seen. New to us will be the Dapple Gray Trail that was just finished by volunteers. We'll stop briefly for a short break about halfway through our hike, some bring a light snack. For those who would like to join us, we'll be stopping in Cartersville for lunch on the way home at SWheat Market Deli - - a fabulous little restaurant that features a variety of organic meals (with vegetarian options) that have garnered a 5-start rating from Yelp. Check out the deli menu and location at http://www.swheatmarket.com/

Notes: | |||||||
Do not be concerned about horse nuggets – there are not that many and they are easily avoided (really). Dogs are allowed (up to 4) – but MUST remain on a leash and cannot be spooked by horses! If you are not sure how your dog would behave around horses, then please don't bring them. We will keep our group together for this hike and ask that no one go ahead of the Trip Leader. By the way, did you know that hikers give way to horsemen by stepping over to the lower side of the trail? This is less intimidating to the horses as they pass by. * We encourage all members to follow our Etiquette Guidelines while participating in AOC events.
