Hike with the AOC Member Ambassadors … Libby and Lemmy. Tell us all what you like (and maybe what suggestions you have) about the AOC.

OK, fellow AOC hikers ... here we go again ... the temperatures are a bit cooler, and the Chattahoochee river trails are waiting on us.

Come and join us on the trails, starting and ending, at the Akers Drive Entrance (West Palisades) - Unit of the Chattahoochee NRA. We will hike about five miles of the trails including sections along the river as well as in the woods, first to "Devil's Race", looping back to the Rottenwood Creek, taking a short excursion back down to the river for the unit's most dramatic section. Here the river is surrounded by steep rock faces, and runs through rocky shoals and small islands of dense vegetation, we then hike back our cars.

Note: A few parts of our hike are a bit steeper and rocky. Nothing bad though.

From eastbound Interstate 285
Take exit 22, Northside Drive, New Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Right on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
Right approximately 1.5 miles to Akers Drive SE
Turn left at the wooden "Mill Wheel"
Drive up the hill passing apartment homes untill you see the visitor parking at the end of Akers Ridge Dr. SE

From westbound Interstate 285
Take exit 22, New Northside Drive, Northside Drive, Powers Ferry Road.
Straight to second traffic light.
Left on Northside Drive to Powers Ferry Road.
Right approximately 1.5 miles to Akers Drive SE
Turn Left at the wooden "Mill Wheel."
Drive up the hill passing apartment homes until you see the visitor parking at the end of Akers Ridge DR. SE

Notes:

Remember to bring three dollar parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual parking pass.
