Hi everyone, thanks for coming out yesterday despite the prediction for rain. We went approximately 8 miles including the climb up the mountain, so remember that when planning future hikes and how you felt on this one. Everyone did great, and nobody got hurt! Fortunately, the light rain that fell just freshened the air without making the trail muddy or the rocks too slippery. It was nice to meet those of you I never met before and good to catch up with the rest. Congratulations to Ralph and Ann! Always nice to hear about couples meeting on the trail and falling in love after many shared adventures. And even nicer to actually be on the trail with them as they struggled up narrow rhododendron thickets in the Appalachians. Up over 14K' mountains in the Andes, or sitting in small Peruvian towns wondering how we're going to fix missing our train. Or watching Ralph fall backward laughing beside our campfire without spilling a drop of his wine. Now that was true tuck and roll, probably learned from his Judo background! And just basically enjoying the spirit of the trail right along with us, no matter how sweaty and dirty and hot we got. Now that's true romance in the making! Hope to see you on the trail again soon!
