Sat, Jun 23 2018 - Hike and Swim - Chattooga River Trail (View Original Event Details)
|
A splendid day on the Chattooga River Trail. We did not encounter any other people on the trail, all day long. Lots and lots of spiderwebs though. An occasional breeze cut through the hot sticky air. After a few miles, we were pleased to hear the roar of the river. We trekked down to the sandy bank and wasted no time plunging in. A few kayakers and rafters floated by, waving amiably. After a cold swim, a bite to eat and lolling about on the boulders for a while, we gathered up our packs and headed back out.
We capped off the day with a visit to Bull Sluice, the Class IV+ rapid famous for its role in the movie Deliverance. Perfect weather, a bit of a workout, excellent companionship and a memorable day.
