We hiked Sope Creek today,, starting at the Sope Creek Elementary School parking lot to avoid the usual weekend crowds at this unit.  We started out by cutting in to the park from off Paper Mill Road and heading down towards the Cochran Shoals section.  The Scribner cemetary was our turnaournd point and we headed back to Sope Creek, following Fox Creek as it made its way towards Sope Creek.  Next, we visited the ruins of the pulp mill on the banks of Sope Creek.  We then headed back to our cars at the elementary school  to the parking lot.  We had an excellent group who kept together and moved well allowing us to clock in about 5.8 miles in a little over 2 hours.  ~ Holt
