Our route today covered all of the horizontal cross-trails that connect the perimeter trails at Vickery. Starting from Riverside Road meant a long uphill road to start out with, but after that, we were warmed up and easily managed the moderate pace for the rest of the hike.

We were treated to sightings of deer and to that beautiful patch of jack-o-lantern mushrooms. Gary carried his umbrella just to make sure we wouldn't get rained on . . . and it worked. No rain for this morning's hike! ~ Joyce
