Mon, Feb 8 2021 - Monday Morning at Henderson Park (View Original Event Details)

I was overly optimistic about the trail conditions at Henderson Park today. We had heavy rain Saturday night, but most of Sunday was dry. I figured that would give trails a chance to dry out. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for many of the trails we crossed. All of us definitely accumulated some mud in our treads!
On the other hand, the day was absolutely gorgeous and the woods were varied and beautiful. Views of a pond, athletic fields, thick woods, creeks, and a waterfall were all part of the scenery. (There was even a huge truck cleaning out the sewer outlet near the pond! Surprisingly there was no odor of any kind as we passed. Nice surprise!) We even had a sketchy crossing at the waterfall, which was much more watery than usual. We took our time, and everyone made it across unscathed.
Our hike took us on loops of all the colored trails - - red, white, and blue - - plus a jaunt around the children's playground and some of the athletic fields. In all, we covered about 4.5 miles this morning. ~ Joyce
