Write Up:Wow! What a terrific hike! The weather was ideal - Sunny and around 80 degrees. The
trail was fairly challenging, although everyone who had recently been to Peru thought it
was "cake." Things were a little foggy at the beginning at Brasstown Bald. Heck, it was a
challenge just to find the trailhead. But the sun came out on our descent down Jack's
Knob. Unfortunately, after we crossed GA 180, several people were attacked by yellow
jackets and had the scars to prove it. Kudos to Rebecca for helping me out with Matt, who
got a little woozy after being stung 4-5 times, or was that the Benedryl. The rest of the
group made great time. Nancy is our newly annointed AOC botanist and introduced me to
the names of several of the trees and shrubs I had been blissfully ignorant of in the past.
Several of us ventured back to Brasstown Bald and hiked up to the visitors center for what
Matt Tichenor described as one of the clearest days he'd ever seen from up there in the
summer. Thank you all for your participation on a great hike!
