Wed, Oct 2 2013 - Wednesday Morning Hike Around Roswell Mill (View Original Event Details)
|
We enjoyed a lovely morning on trails less traveled. Appreciating the cooler autum weather, combined with plentiful sunshine, ten adventuresome hikers set out on an exploratory trek. Fortunately, we had our human GPS with us who had scoped out the trails in advance. We began in a beautiful residential section of the Roswell Mill, followed by a very interesting walk through the antebellum cemetery. We continued along the Historic Roswell Trail System and into Waller Park and Waller Extension Trail.
Along the way, we encountered the largest turtle any of us have seen on a hike. We ran into some lost travelers who benefitted from our human GPS and trailed along behind us to find their way back to civilization. As always, there were moments of lively conversation, and pauses for quiet reflection amid the deep solace that is always found in the woods.
Welcome to October! And a hearty welcome to Garrett, on his very first hike with the AOC. And of course, a sincere thank you to all the seasoned AOC members who came out to join us on this wonderful day. With many thanks from your trip leaders, Joyce and Lisa.
